Pioneer in Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) in Lebanon

Dr. Samer Khalife is the first and leading intestinal ultrasound specialist in Lebanon. Since 2019, he has performed more than 5,000 intestinal ultrasound (IUS) examinations at his Zouk Mosbeh clinic, using a high-end Supersonic Imagine Mach 30 ultrasound system.

IBUS Certification (Oct 2025)

In October 2025, after a successful participation in the IBUSXP – Masterclass and certification for the experienced IUS performer, Dr. Khalife was awarded the IBUS certification — officially recognizing his skills according to the full International Bowel Ultrasonography curriculum. He is the first Lebanese gastroenterologist to obtain this international certification.

IUS allows real-time, non-invasive evaluation of the small and large intestines, essential for monitoring IBD, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and intestinal inflammation without radiation.

Dr. Khalife also practices point of care Abdominal ultrasound looking into the liver, gallbladder pancreas, etc. Intestinal ultrasound is also valuable for patients with general digestive symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation. Biography

The Journey: A Family of Healers

Born into a family of physicians, Dr. Khalife grew up in an environment dedicated to the science and art of healing — both of his parents, his brother, and sister are medical doctors, and another sister is a dentist. A true family of healers.

He completed his medical degree and specialization in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Saint Joseph University – Hôtel-Dieu de France in Beirut, one of the most prestigious medical schools in Lebanon and then pursued advanced training in Paris, France, completing fellowships in tertiary reference centers.
